James Zabiela

James Zabiela's passion for electronic music began at a young age, influenced by his father, who was a fan of progressive rock and early electronic sounds.
He was drawn to DJing in his teenage years, experimenting with vinyl turntables and honing his technical skills.

His big break came in the early 2000s when he entered and won a DJ competition hosted by Muzik Magazine.
This victory led to industry recognition and a residency with Sasha’s Excession agency, which helped launch his professional career.

James Zabiela quickly became known for his technical mastery of DJ equipment, especially his ability to creatively use Pioneer CDJs, samplers, effects units, and loop manipulation.
Unlike many DJs who simply mixed tracks, Zabiela brought a live performance aspect to his sets, incorporating scratching, layering, and real-time remixing.

His intricate and forward-thinking style earned him global recognition, leading to collaborations with industry giants like Sasha and Nic Fanciulli.
He also became a key ambassador for Pioneer DJ, frequently showcasing new DJ technology at music conferences and events.

In 2012, Zabiela launched his record label, Born Electric, as a platform for innovative electronic music.
The label has released tracks from artists such as Midland, Pedram, and Drew Hill, as well as Zabiela’s own productions.

Though primarily known for his DJ skills, Zabiela has also ventured into music production, releasing tracks like "Perseverance" and "The Healing", which showcase his signature blend of atmospheric, melodic, and glitchy textures.

James Zabiela is widely respected as one of the most technically gifted DJs of his generation.
His ability to merge technology with creativity has influenced a new wave of DJs who incorporate live remixing and looping techniques into their performances.

Through his label, productions, and continued dedication to the craft, Zabiela remains an influential figure in progressive house, breakbeat, and techno, consistently pushing the boundaries of DJ performance.
